Do the workbooks contain pre-written revision notes?

No. The workbooks contain structured questions and answer spaces, rather than pre-written textbook chapters. They are designed to help students actively research, understand and record the law instead of passively reading somebody else's notes.

How do the workbooks work?

Instead of giving students another large revision textbook to read, the workbooks turn the SQE specification into targeted questions with space to complete each answer. Students research the law and write the answers in their own words, gradually building a personalised set of SQE notes and their own legal dictionary. This active approach helps students identify exactly what they know, what they have missed and what they still need to revise.

Do the workbooks cover the entire SRA syllabus?

Are the workbooks useful for SQE2?

Yes. SQE2 assesses candidates' ability to apply legal knowledge through practical legal skills, using a subset of the FLK assessed in SQE1. The workbooks are therefore particularly useful for students who need to refresh and consolidate the underlying law for SQE2. They also include mini-scenario questions that bring individual legal principles together and require students to apply them to realistic facts. Answers to the mini-scenario questions are provided online.

Are the workbooks printed or digital?

Who created the workbooks?

Master Law Prep was created by an SQE candidate who passed both SQE1 and SQE2. While preparing for the assessments, she found it difficult to identify exactly what needed to be learned from the specification and accumulated a huge volume of notes, much of which was not relevant to the exam. The workbooks were developed to provide a clearer and more manageable way to cover the examinable syllabus.

Who are the workbooks suitable for?

The workbooks can be used alongside textbooks, course materials and other reliable, up-to-date legal sources.

Do the workbooks replace an SQE preparation course or legal textbook?

No. The workbooks are revision and organisation tools. Students must use reliable and up-to-date legal sources to research and complete their answers. They are not intended to replace legal textbooks, tuition, independent legal research or any other preparation an individual student may require.

Is Master Law Prep affiliated with the SRA or Kaplan?

No. Master Law Prep is an independent business and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to the Solicitors Regulation Authority, Kaplan or any SQE training provider. "SQE" and "Solicitors Qualifying Examination" are used only to describe the examination for which the workbooks are designed.

How are orders produced and delivered?

Can I return a workbook?

Accepted Answer

Customers' cancellation and return rights are explained in our Refund Policy. Returned workbooks must not be written in, marked, damaged or handled beyond what is reasonably necessary to inspect them. Faulty, damaged or incorrect orders should be reported promptly in accordance with the Refund Policy.
